Salary: c. £70k plus benefits package

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, commercially aware individual to provide engineering leadership within a highly regarded, privately owned and successful chemical manufacturing business.  Headquartered in Norwich, this award-winning company, who provide contract-manufacturing solutions to customers worldwide in both agrochemical and fine chemical markets, enjoys a long-standing and enviable market reputation.  Operational excellence along with industry-leading HSE, quality and environmental compliance underpins the success of this top-tier COMAH site, enabling the business to deliver to an ethos of exceeding customer expectations built on strong market relationships.  The business has enjoyed strong sales and financial performance in recent years and it is essential that the Engineering, Maintenance and associated teams manage, maintain and improve the expanding assets if future development plans are to be achieved.

Reporting to the Site Managing Director, the appointee will lead and manage all day-to-day engineering activities, design and implement effective management strategies to maximise production, implement a coherent capital investment programme and ensure that all engineering and maintenance contracts are reviewed, tendered and negotiated in a timely manner.  With a strongly analytical and detail-minded approach, the appointee will be an effective leader, able to implement complicated project plans, who fully understands the importance of customer involvement, thrives on developing strong teamwork and can demonstrate continuous performance improvement along with strong professional and personal integrity.  The successful candidate will be excited by the opportunity to take on such a critical position and to work with a very capable and collaborative team who are committed to the business.

 

Candidates, ideally qualified to degree level in a relevant Engineering discipline, will be self-starters who can demonstrate drive, tenacity and strong leadership coupled with exemplary communication & presentation skills, strong teamwork and a desire to build strong relationships both internally and externally.  Listening, influencing and negotiating will all be key competencies along with the ability to manage positive change and deliver performance improvement.  An enthusiastic outlook, strong IT & financial awareness and a track record of strategic design and engaging others to deliver exceptional results will all be required to grasp this opportunity and to make a real difference to this business along with a potential higher profile as success is delivered.
