This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Chemical Engineer, who is commercially-minded to join a highly regarded, industry-leading company which has enjoyed rapid and profitable growth in recent years. From its current UK base and through an effective network of overseas distributors, the company has ambitious plans for further growth including overseas manufacturing and targeted acquisitions. Privately-owned, our client manufactures and markets a technically strong range of products which require exceptional project engineering leadership to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of their chosen sectors and "state of the art" innovative thinking to ensure that growth plans can be realised in novel areas.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the appointee will be responsible for all aspects of new projects and provide site engineering support with the specific responsibility for the development of project ideas; defining scopes and commercial justification for the preparation of funding applications for capex. Supporting the Engineering Manager in the efficient operation of the company's facilities, including the review and preparation of procedures, allocation of resources and use of contractors, the incumbent will provide a 'hands-on' and detailed approach to capital projects ensuring that timescales and budgets are achieved. This is a senior and influential role with the opportunity to develop world class process technology, manage and control construction activities and develop existing plant and processes to 'future-proof' the business. The role will require a culture of measured continuous improvement, prior industry knowledge, a thorough understanding of engineering design and development, the ability to lead HAZOP studies and rigorous adherence with ISO 9001/14001 and HSE standards.

Candidates, ideally qualified to Masters Level in Chemical Engineering with Chartered status, with a track record of experience in custom chemical manufacturing and/or batch production of speciality products will demonstrate a record of strong leadership, possess exceptional people management skills and be culturally aware with a track record of delivering previous significant projects. Experienced in designing and delivering significant capital expenditure projects and comfortable working in a matrix structure, the incumbent will demonstrate drive, tenacity, 'presence' and strong financial awareness coupled with exemplary communication & presentation skills. Listening, influencing and negotiation will all be key competencies along with strong analysis and decision-making skills and a positive, enthusiastic outlook which will engage others to deliver exceptional results.
