This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, commercially aware individual to plan, perform and manage the development of customer focussed bioprocessing technologies in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.  This highly regarded, privately owned and successful Contract Research and Development Organisation (CRDO), headquartered in Alnwick, provides the Pharmaceutical industry with a comprehensive range of services including drug substance and drug product process development, scale-up, small scale manufacturing, bioanalysis, DMPK, regulatory and consultancy.  Founded in February 2016 following the acquisition of the Covance Alnwick Research Centre, the company is enjoying consistent growth throughout its chosen markets and with a strong commercial ethos of delivering best practice work for its clients, the company is continuing to develop and now requires additional expertise to support this growth.

Reporting to the highly experienced Head of API development, the role will be one of increasing importance with the incumbent developing new bioprocessing technologies, both internally and through third-party technology service providers.  The company has real scientific expertise and strength, in people and facilities, enabling the appointee to design synthetic routes, plan and perform complex bioprocessing and chemical development activities to agreed timescales and specifications with real confidence in order to support client collaboration and business success.  Acting as project manager and as the point of contact for clients, the role will carry increasing accountability with the possibility of line management responsibility as success is delivered.  With a strongly analytical and detail-minded approach, the appointee will be ‘hands-on’ with a strong team ethos and the flexibility and approach to represent the company externally

 

Candidates, with an excellent record in bioprocessing and synthetic organic chemistry in an industrial context (Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical, Fine Chemical or Biotech) and ideally qualified to beyond degree level in a relevant discipline, will be self-starters who can demonstrate drive, tenacity and strong “presence” coupled with exemplary communication & presentation skills.  Their approach will be relationship-led, whilst listening, influencing and negotiating will all be key competencies along with the ability to manage positive change and deliver strong performance to agreed deadlines.  An enthusiastic outlook, strong IT skills and financial awareness with a track of relevant industrial experience will all be required to grasp this exciting opportunity and to make an increasing difference and contribution to this growing business.
