This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, commercially focussed, experienced business leader to develop this highly regarded Industry membership organisation.  From its North West base and through an effective network of contacts across the UK and internationally, the organisation provides information and consultative support on wide ranging issues affecting its industry sectors which are expected to undergo considerable change and challenge in the new future.  Providing strategic and operational leadership of the organisation and acting as a focal point for members alongside an experienced and highly committed team, the Chief Executive will ensure that technical, regulatory and commercial advice is current, appropriate and invites existing and future members to interact with and fully utilise the organisations resources.

Reporting to the organisation’s Council of management and working with the incumbent Chair, the appointee will be the principle advocate of the organisation, both internally and externally, will lead, guide and manage the internal team, the organisation’s Council and network of advisors to ensure that Members are fully updated with sector issues and future outcomes.  Responsible for the general management of the organisation, the incumbent will have a strong understanding of financial and budget management, revenue generation requiring the attraction and engagement of new members, the growth of consultancy services and adherence to the agreed budget.  The ideal candidate will collaborate throughout the sector to develop knowledge and additional services, will enable strategic development of the organisation where succession planning will be vital for continuing, future success and understand the commercial value of technical knowledge, advice and support to the marketplace.  Working with both multinational and SME organisations to build long-term relationships, this is an influential and highly significant appointment for the organisation with the right individual enjoying the opportunity to contribute to the long-term development of the wider business.  As such, cultural fit is of paramount importance, as will be a proactive, entrepreneurial and balanced approach to ensure delivery of the organisation’s aspirations.

Candidates, ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent, will have a demonstrable and successful track record in the development and leadership of a B2B organisation providing technical and commercial advisory services, along with strategic thinking, strong teamwork, a high level of integrity and a desire to grow strong relationships both internally and externally.  The appointee will demonstrate drive, tenacity, ‘presence’, maturity and strong financial awareness, whilst listening, influencing and negotiation will all be key competencies along with exemplary communication & presentation skills.
